WICEN Vic: Notice of WICEN activation - Request for WICEN Operators - Wentworth NSW - SES - Update

Hi all,

Just to keep you up dated. A small team of operators is departing tomorrow for Wentworth just over the border near Mildura. Our mission is to support two SES boat crews who are carrying various duties from rescue, damage assessments and collecting of geospatial data.

Thank you for all the emails of support and for those who are available and willing to go.  Also to the many others who have assisted and continue to assist the mission at hand.

Look out for further updates as the mission progresses. I’ll post when appropriate updates on the WICEN Facebook page. For now this is a fully WICEN Vic resourced tasking and knowing the training we have and continue to undertake the team will be successful.

Subject: Notice for possible WICEN activation - Request for WICEN Operators - Wentworth NSW - SES

Dear Members,

WICEN may be  formally requested by SES to provide communications support in the Mildura / Wentworth area. Due to no communications SES boat crews are at greater risk and WICEN may be in a position to assist.

We envisage the deployment being short term (2~3 days on the ground), until either the need is over or SES have put in place supplementary communications.

If you are available for a deployment (next 24~48 hours) to the area could you please let me know immediately. At this stage as the situation is dynamic we are currently gathering additional more detailed information to complete a deployment package. Most likely you will need to be self-sufficient food, water and transport. Hopefully accommodation can be provided.

We have also spoken to WICEN NSW and WICEN ACT to support this mission being a rapid deployment.
