WICEN Vic: WICEN HF net 14/9/2021

Net opened at 2030 hrs on 3600 kHz by VK3MDH, VK3ZRX took over as Net 
Control.

Conditions were generally good with (mostly) strong signals and low noise.

Checkins:

VK3EQ Rik checkin only

VK3MDH Mark, 59+, working on VARA modes and trying SMSGTE (a gateway 
between APRS and SMS) which doesn't seem to be functional atm

VK3KMG Graham checkin only

VK3UKW Luke, 56, welcome to the net!

VK3YG Peter, 59+, has had 2nd jab, Lake Glenmaggie full

VK3DPW Paul, 59+, has got Winlink / VARA FM going after problems with 
optoisolator PTT interface to radio

3CMC and 3UKW had some difficulty copying each other although in 
adjacent suburbs.

VK3EQ Rik is running a VARA FM station on 145.200 MHz for anyone wishing 
to try out Winlink / VARA FM.

Events:

Gippsland Rally was deferred to 16 October, now further deferred to 4/5 
December.  Further details TBA.  (If you can assist, please contact me).

The next Coordinators and Commanders meeting, and the WICEN AGM, are 
scheduled for 14 November.  Arrangements TBC but probably via Zoom.
