  EastLink helps to develop new safety training
  for emergency first responders


    Funded by Victoria's Workforce Training Innovation Fund


      EastLink is working with Monash University, Holmesglen, the
      emergency services and VicRoads to develop and roll out the new
      training.

Victorian Minister for Training and Skills and Minister for Higher 
Education, the Honourable Gayle Tierney, has announced that Victoria’s 
Workforce Training Innovation Fund is providing more than $1.5 million 
to support the development of a new training package, /First Responder 
Safety on High Speed Roads/.

The training package will address the gap in existing training for 
emergency and incident responders who work in high-speed traffic 
environments such as EastLink.

The training package will provide emergency and incident responders with 
skills in:

  * identifying role-specific responsibilities in emergency response
  * identifying risks in the road transportation environment
  * integrating proactive safety management with compliance
    responsibilities.

Beginning in March, the first phase of face-to-face training will be 
provided to 360 emergency and incident responders. This will 
include first responders from EastLink, VicRoads and all emergency services.
