John,
It seems sad indeed.
I have no antennas yet in my new house and had removed all some year earlier at the prior address. So I have not been a contender when at home.
In the inner suburbs, rfi is so high that 3.6mhz is often frustration more than communication. Nothing to do with temperature of the shack for me!

I am still looking at remote ststions'

Subject: WICEN Vic: WICEN HF Net 11/7/17 - NONE

Hi everyone

There was NO WICEN HF net tonight. I was on frequency (3600) from just prior to 2030 hrs and checked the frequency was clear, then (when no Net Control station appeared) took over as NCS and called for check-ins several times. No check-ins were heard. Band noise conditions were reasonable but propagation was probably poor (as in recent weeks), but in the past I have always been able to hear someone was there even though copy may have been too poor to resolve the words. But nothing heard tonight.

I gave up at 2040.

Did anyone call in and I didn’t hear them? I hope so, as otherwise, the WICEN HF net has sunk to a new low of no NCS (except for a ring-in) and no participants.

Is it time to draw a line under the HF net? Is it only a “warm shack” activity? Your comments invited.

Net traffic – NONE.

Rostered net control next week – Me.

I hope to catch up with you then.

Cheers, John VK3ZRX
