WICEN Vic: Alpine Rally - Still need lots more operators!

Hello everyone,

With just over three weeks to go, we still need *LOTS* more operators
especially for Friday 2nd December.   We are currently 15 operators short
for Friday, and 6 short for Saturday and Sunday.

Friday's stages are planned to run in the Lakes Entrance / Nowa Nowa /
Orbost area.

Saturday's stages will be in the Swifts Creek / Omeo / Benambra / Ensay
area.

Sunday's stages will be in the Nowa Nowa / Bruthen / Lakes Entrance area.

Why not come down to help in this lush part of Gippsland and enjoy the
picturesque countryside and camping opportunities?

Hello everyone,

The Alpine Rally, now celebrating its 100th year, will be staged over four
days, with WICEN required on three days from Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th
December.

The rally is mainly based at Lakes Entrance again, but going much further
afield this year, with the Saturday stages running as far north as Omeo /
Benambra.

The initial assessment is that the required number of operators is very
high, with 29 required for Friday, and 19 required for each of Saturday and
Sunday.   This means that for the Friday, we will need about double what we
usually have for a car rally, so please consider volunteering and passing
on the word to your amateur radio colleagues who might be interested
to help too.

Communication is expected to be largely via 2 m voice, but we will also
consider 6 m depending on coverage requirements.

No promises, but we usually receive some assistance towards fuel costs for
this event.

Please reply to this email if you are interested in helping on any or all
of the three days.  (If you have already let me know in writing in the last
couple of weeks you don't need to reply.)
