Thank you to those members checking in last night and guests. The 80M band was a little better than last week but with QSB and a high noise floor. I hope your antenna’s stayed up last night with very high winds here in the Dandenong’s. John 3RZX is in urgent need for any operators available for the Middle of Everywhere Rally (details below and attached).

Hi everyone

 

What: The  Middle of Everywhere Rally (previously known as the Gippsland 

Rally.)  The Rally is a round of both the Victorian and Australian Rally 

Championships.

 

When:  Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August 2022

 

Who:  The Middle of Everywhere Rally is run by Motorsport Australia, the 

trading name of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sports Ltd 

(CAMS).  CAMS is a not-for-profit organisation.

 

Where:  Race HQ is at the Heyfield oval.  The Saturday course is very 

similar to last year, in a loop starting near Glenmaggie, heading up to 

near Mt Useful and then back to Heyfield.  The Sunday course is over a 

number of roads north of Briagalong (north of Stratford), with HQ in 

Heyfield.

 

Comms:  WICEN will be supplying backup comms for safety, logistics and 

scoring purposes.    We will be operating mainly 2m voice with perhaps 

some use of 70cm or 6m.  We will not be running packet (TRAK).   Further 

details will be provided closer to the event.

 

Accommodation / camping:  Free camping is available at the Heyfield RV 

Park near Race HQ, and some camping is possible in the field although 

not all checkpoint locations are suitable for setting up camp.  Further 

details later.
