WICEN Vic: 2nd call - Gippsland Rally 2021 - Weekend of August 7th

Hi all,

This is the 2nd call for operators for the Gippsland Rally 2021.

Firstly many thanks to those members and non-members who have volunteered their time for this event. Also to those who made contact letting us know of their unavailability.

As of yesterday Andrew Roseman,  Gippsland Rally 2021,  Clerk of the Course has advised the event will be scaled back to one day, the Saturday.  This is due to C-19 restrictions in NSW limiting competitors attendance. The event will no longer run as a National rally but rather a State event.

However we still need more operators for the Saturday regardless. There are 4 stages with multiple SOS points on several of the stages. Therefore the number of operators is high. The rally organisers also want this to be a communications learned experience as they will be having us back in 2022 as the event will be run again.

John VK3ZRX will be the Event Commander for this event. Further information on communication plans, timings, scheduling of our pre event zoom session and camping locations are currently being formulated.

So if you or any other AR operator you know might be available for Saturday August 7th and wish to participate as part of the WICEN communications team please let me know.

Hi all ,

This is the first call for radio operators for the 2021 Gippsland Rally. This will be a big event ! Sat 7th in particular and we’ll need as many operators as we can muster.   So if you know of any interested hams, who may be interested please let me know.

Currently the event is a voice only event. We are looking at 70cm, 2M & 6M comms.

We’ll be holding a pre event briefing via Zoom in case of any questions and to ensure all operators understand their roles.
