The Kenwood TM D721G has built in GPS. This requires the Head to be mounted on the dash where it can see the sky. The 721A doesn’t have a GPS. USB GPS can be used with software on the PC thus keeping the head out of the sun.

I have the Yaesu FT 8900 also - Only issue for me is the "What Buttons to Push to do what I want" problem, as I don't fnd it intuitive, I need to have either the manual - or a cheat sheet for me to know what to push - (had it a long time, but don't use it much though).
Never used the 10m part of it (and not likely too at the moment) - and only occasionally look at the 6m side.
Note: 50W for lower bands, but only some 35W at 70cm.
Have a look at the Kenwood TM-D710G, this appears to have what you need and from what I can see also has the full 50w on both 2m and 70cm.
Seems to also have easier to read screen etc so might be worth examining further.
Alternately - the Kenwood TM-V71A also appears to be 50w on 2m and 70cm -
NOTE: I have NOT used either of these Kenwoods - will be interesting to see if anyone has one and what they think about them.

Greetings all,
As I dont have a good grasp of all new models of radios available, I thought it quickest to use the membership's knowledge ...
I am looking for a 2m/70cm radio that will operate as a cross band repeater/translator or whatever is the correct term...
Would need to have about 50 watt TX. capability.
Also, NOT one of the cheapie Chinese etc. boxes. Needs good specs.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks
Paul Whitaker.
