WICEN Vic: WICEN Vic Report of HF net February 17th 2015

The net was opened at 2030 hrs on 3.6 MHz.
NCS Gerard ck3ger, operating portble from Worsley Road Bangholme.
Band conditions fine, some static, base noise S6, 18 deg C. overcast.

Stations checking in were Ken vk3ala, Peter, vk3yg, Ian vk3yea (c/o), John
vk3zrx, Ian vk3ifm, John vk3xd, Tim vk3mit (c/o), David vk3vp (c/o), Tim
vk3bcn c/o.
Apology received for Ken 3FKD via Peter 3YG

All stations were loud and clear,

Matters discussed:
Pajero challenge on 27/28 February, North of Walhalla. prepare to use 6m,
as there is a 6m repeater in the area (Aberfeldy).
John 3zrx was testing a recently repaired FT707. Sounds ok, but a bit high
in frequency on tx.
John 3xd talked about the Wombat 100 mountain bike event on April 12th.
Further info is being prepared. Similar to last year. Early start 0700.
No info was received as yet for the MAD bike ride, normally early April.
John xd to investigate. Information received since indicates that there
will be NO MAD bike ride this year, and possibly years thereafter.

A data burst sounding like Winmor came through on the frequency around 2050
hr. Possibly a Wicen operator using an incorrect mode?

Peter 3yg mentioned a possible event in March in the Yea area. Ian vk3yea
can you please confirm or deny?

Due to a clash with commitments for Ian 3IFM, next weeks NCS will be Peter
vk3yg.

The net was closed at 2110 hr.

event called Sunraysia 600, on 11/12 April (the same weekend as the Wombat
100):

 Sunraysia 600 Off-road event, (similar to SeaLake Mallee Rally), 1st Rnd
of the AORC and VORC.
Looking for operators Sat 11th and Sunday 12th of April (weekend after
Easter).
Located at Keera Station 10Km’s Mildura side of Lake Culluleraine, camping
on-site Start/Finish or on location.
