Mark, The subject of the Mad Bike Ride came up last night on the NET. 
and I had a look at their website and found nothing so I sent the 
following email  to their website. and the following response was rec'd 
this am. As you can see no reason was given, but the MAD ride will NOT 
be one of our events this year. Sad I know but we win some and lose some.

Regrettably, John, we are unable to run the MAD Ride this year (which 
also makes it unlikely in future years)

Many thanks for your help in the past and we will give you as long a 
lead time as possible if we are able to offer the ride again in the future.
